It's official

Although Luis hasn't started the academy (set of Sept 14), we had the orientation today. We got all of our paperwork, a packet for him, a packet for me. We, the spouses, were briefed on what to expect throughout the academy and thereafter. It's a lot like the Army with the hours, the PT, the testing and time away from home. I know the next 8 months will be gruesome, more so for him than me, but it's tasking on the family too. Even though it's similar to the military, I know it's not the same. There will be alot of new stuff. Our life is about to change, yet again but we are ready for it. We are a team and I'm proud of my husband taking on this career. I'm anxious to be apart of this 'family' of police officers and their wives. Good thing about this group of wives is that we stay in the same city forever!
There is a book the spouses are supposed to read called "I Love a Cop" and we will discuss it at our upcoming meetings.
I look forward to the next few years, get this first part pass us so we can breathe and then start the long awaited new chapter in our lives with buying a home and finally settling here in Austin with a career we both love, his law enforcement and my photography. This long journey we have had already will help us get through the next part and I'm anxious to see what the future holds.

Swim lessons year 2

This is Ashlyn's second year at swim lessons with Ms Pam O'Connor, the best teacher by far taht Austin has to offer. She was hesitant at first with tears and all but after the first few days she was eager to get in and swim. She swims so well, I'm amazed. Her bad habit this year though is keeping her head out of the water , more like treading water or dog paddling) when she puts her head down like she is supposed to she is SO fast and swims perfectly. Not sure what got in to her keeping her head bobbing but still she did well. I'm very proud of her. We let her play on the playground after she swam.

Update...

We went to see Ashlyn's friend, Isaiah, swim at his swim lessons today and well Ashlyn ended up joining him in class, haha. She also got to jump off the diving board since her pool didn't have one. Here are a couple from Isaiah's class.
